It was so much fun playing hurling today at Virginia Avenue Park in Venice! Big grassy area, lots of big shade trees. Drills on flipping the ball off the ground and batting, hand passes, ground strikes, and catching. “Strike and follow” relays. Proud to say that I improved in some things after David took some extra time to coach me. Safe, fun and FREE, with extra equipment for the first 10 people who need it! Just make sure you bring water.

I write here to sing the highest praise of Play Hurling Los Angeles. These guys are amazing. If you want the best and most professional experience while having great fun, these are the guys you want.
On Sunday April 30, the Gaelic League LA was thrilled to get a training session with Play Hurling Los Angeles. Not only had David answered our emails promptly, some of them in Irish, but he’d also gone beyond that to give us useful suggestions and lots of extra help promoting the event.
I already knew hurling is the best sport on earth but did not how much sheer fun the training would be. They were prepared and ready for us with all the equipment we needed and more, with amazing teaching skills, and genuine friendliness that made us get caught up in their passion for the sport. It was an adrenaline rush and I can’t wait to play again.
They did all this for us as part of our Irish Immersion Weekend and it was undoubtedly the absolute highlight of the weekend. We will be doing all we can to support them because they TRULY deserve it. Schools, summer camps, youth groups… if you want the best sporting experience ever, call Play Hurling Los Angeles. Seriously. An ancient sport made easy with skilled training: it’s history, culture, and pure joy. Tabhair faoi. Go for it.

I really enjoyed the hurling workshop! I had never heard of the sport, let alone play or see it, so this was a very enriching experience that was very fun. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone as it is a very fun sport to learn and it allowed me to learn more about Irish culture, which is always an added bonus to learning a sport. It is challenging, but not too hard, fun, competitive, and an overall great time. I want to go to more workshops if they are available because of how much I enjoyed the first one!
